The Art of Ice

The first frosty night arrives in Southern Finland. As the sun rises, a dewy lawn is revealed. The morning is outstanding. What can the results of the first frosts look like in nature, especially on the surface of water?

Most of us have surely seen air bubbles in the ice - small winter details in nature. Examining ice is an annual routine for me. Every time I find something new and interesting. You will never see the same patterns on ice again. That is the reason why I truly love ice - every shape is unique and impossible to be re-created.

Before buying a drone, I had never even thought about the views as seen from above. I never get tired of those views. Excitement - the feeling I recognize on my little “ice trips”. I usually watch the weather forecast the night before my trip, and make the decision about the location of my trip. Till today, the excitement has not decreased at all. For sure, I will always discover new shapes of ice, the art of ice, as I call it.
